This is where people need to stop saying their candles are 100% natural. They shouldn't even say their soy wax is 100% because ther are additives added to it. It's just that soy is renewable and paraffin is not. Actually paraffin is more natural than soy.
Just call Jason at GFGB and he will set the record straight

How soy wax is made

I asked itsasoycandle.com. He re is their answer

"Soy wax is made from the beans of the soy plant. By nature, the beans have an oily make up. The beans are blended and squeezed. The liquid is then separated. The oil will float to the top. This is drawn off. Then a separate process is done to take the solids out of the oil. The oil is refined for cooking use and other products. The solids are used for food products. In the process of separating the different solids, wax is a by-product. This is where you get soy milk from. Just like Cow and Goat milk, you can get the solids out of the milk. Instead of wasting it, the manufacturers sell it to companies like Car-Gill. They in turn refine the wax to a more pure consistency. In the end, you get 99.6% pure soy wax that is all natural and clean burning. By itself, you could actually eat it. I am not sure that you would want to though.

This same process is done with corn and other "beans" to produce our vegetable oils and Crisco - the thick grease that we use for cooking. Soy crops are easy to grow. The demand for Soy products is increasing every year as they find more uses for the different parts of the beans and extracts the get from the beans."

You know... I'm not exactly sure, but I'm assuming it's from the soy bean... If I'm not mistaken it's essentially processed soy bean oil... but I could be wrong.
