Hello everyone...
I'm new to the world of candle making and I am using EcoPure Soy. I can't seem to find the right wick that will allow my wax to reach the walls of my containers. My small jar has a 2 1/2" opening (using HTP 93), my medium - 3 1/4" opening (using HTP 105) & large is approx. 3" opening,(using 2 HTP 105). I've used the recommended wick, but it still isn't working. Should I try a round container...more wicks???

There is a general rule of wicking UP one step for Soy - make sure the chart you are using is for Soy or vegetable and that you are wicking for the LARGEST part of your container.
Many containers are smaller in places and larger at the middle so you have
to wick for the largers spot - and as mentioned wick up one more for heavier FO's and nearly ALL vanilla FO's.

This is exactly why making soy candles is so hard and makes it
an art and science. Everyone I know has the same problems.
Soy wax burns cooler than paraffin wax so the melting pool
getting hot enough can be frustrating.
Lone Star Candle Supply in Texas carries the LX, Eco, Htp,
and CD wicks so you might try them to see what wick is best
suited for your needs. Just ask to see if they will send you
samples, of about 5 of each, of each of the above suited for
the size of diameter of your container.
I didn't know how to measure the diameter of my container until
just about a week ago. I was measuring the outside of the
diameter at the top...that was incorrect.
The correct way to measure is the inside to inside of the top
diameter.
For example, I was telling everyone my jelly jar was 2 1/2 inches
across. But, by measuring the inside to the inside, my jelly jar
diameter was actually 2 3/8 inches across.
And, another problem I was having was I was using Southern
Vanilla. This fragrance is a heavy oil and usually you have to
wick up on heavy fragrances.
I'm still struggling to perfect my 8 oz. jelly jar but I am slowly
getting it to the point where I can actually sell it and it will give
a awesome scent throw and burn longer than a paraffin candle.
There is so many factors involved and it is the process of trail and
error. Testing , testing, and more testing.
Only the tough will survival in the soy candle making process

Hi Dee!
Welcome!!
Thanks for your post here. Finding the perfect wick for your container can be a pretty trying event! If your melt pool is not reaching the sides of your container, you probably need to upsize your wick and see what results you come up with.
Hopefully it won't be overkill... but you may want to try an htp 1212 for your 3 1/4" opening and the htp 105 for your 2 1/2" opening.
A big part of finding the right wick for your candle is trial and error... unfortunately all of the different waxes and containers makes it difficult to come up with a perfect guide.
