Hi,
I am new to candle making. First I went to Michael's to try it out and got beautiful candles with a solid dye and solid albiet faint scent. I read that liquid dyes and liquid scents sometimes don't turn out well with soy candles but since the practise candles turned out so well, I bought 50lbs of soy wax from a reputable supplier with various liquid scents and liquid dyes.
I've done two batches with two different scents and dyes as the results are the same: Some of the candles are beautiful with no blemishes and nice smooth top. Some have a crystal look where it looks like the wax hasn't blended. I thought maybe I didn't mix enough or heat enough so made sure the second batch was well blended and mixed at 180 degrees and it turned out the same. The outside appearance on the glass containers looks like small beads of wax in liquid. The tops looks crystalized. Unsure what this is called but it is nothing like I have seen before. I made sure I didn't heat the wax to high to damage it as per the instructions which said to mix between 150-180 degrees. Finally, there is minimal blooming and frosting if none at all which pleases me. What is wierd is that some show up as a unified wax appearance and are perfect, some show tiny amounts of beads in liquid look which is so small that I can live with and some are so horrible I don't know what to do. I even micrwaved one after being desperate to no avail. The wierest part is that it is all from the same batch! How could they end up so different from eachother when poured at the same time?
Any ideas? I'm new and still learning, so pardon in advance for any miswording of terms.
Very Odd
I would strongly suggest calling your reputable supplier and seeking their help. Thats about the only suggestion without knowing the specifics like:
What wax, containers, wicks?
What temp was the pouring room and how were the containers cooled?
