I need some help. I am a beginner in making soy candles and am having trouble with the fragrances. When not burning, the candles smell very strong. When the candles are lit, it is hard to even smell the fragrances. Help - what am I doing wrong? Is it the oils I'm using? Do you recommend a certain type of oils or a supplier that has strong smelling oils available - there are so many to choose from. Any direction would be great! Thank you in advance

the wick you use is going to vary based on the diameter of the container or pillar. I'm still testing myself but I usually have to wick up 1-2 sizes from whatever is specified for paraffin. I use htp wicks but many people have had good results with other wicks.

SNF...There are many reason why you candle scent does not
throw.
Could be your candle is not burning hot enough to get a good
melting pool.
Could be you are not using the correct wick?
Could be the container you are using.
There are many possibilities. Soy wax doesn't burn as
hot as paraffin wax so it is harder to get a good melting pool.
Just keep reading, researching, asking questions, and testing.
Then, 6 to 12 months from now, you and I will be seasoned
chandlers.
Candle making is both an art and science.
I've only been doing candle making for 3 months. I was cocky
at first but I'm humbled now. So many mistakes made me realize
this isn't easy. But, what a challenge.
Somewhere on this board you will find candle making terms. Read it.
Do lots of reseach and read everything you can about making soy
candles.
God Bless You.

Fragrance oils
Hi!
Thanks for posting here! First of all it is very important that you are buying uncut, manufacturer's grade fragrance oil. If you choose to go the essential oil route, make sure it is pure and also uncut.
Some sellers will cut their oil with a product called di-propolene glycol (sp).
Some suppliers also sell concentrated oils... these are basically stronger versions. Check www.saveonscents.com for concentrated fragrances. You can also check www.wellingtonfragrances.com for an excellent product!
If you are looking for essential oils, I can help there. We are selling pure essential oils in our main store at www.scentable.com/store. Feel free to read more about our essential oils on our Essential Oil page.
I hope this helps!
