soy tarts/melts

Hey everyone. I 'm a newbee to candle making. I have spent a ton of money on purchasing them and now am trying to make them. We have made tarts a couple of times, scent throw is good, they turned out okay. Problem is.... they are too hard. I like tarts to be creamier/softer texture. Can anyone tell me how to do this. As they are right now they break and chip easily. Help!!!!!!

thanks!!!

Some refferance

I am following Soy Candle Book to make soy candle. I think it will be helpful for you if you want to make Soy Candle easily.

sink holes

Hi JKC BROWN,
I used the Celestial Soy and really like it. The only thing is....sink holes..we have sink holes in the middle of our tatrs.Do you get the same thing??? And if so , what did you do to fix it?? thanks for your input!!

We are using a container wax. We have also used a votive and we have mixed both of them. Currently we are using Natures wax C-3 and I still am not crazy about the texture. what do you use??

Are you using container or pillar wax? I use container. They are much softer, but they do much better than pillar wax.

I've never used coconut oil, but I've heard of lots of people adding Crisco to their soy. Never tried that either though. I'm happy with the Celestial Soy wax as is... lol... It's certainly worth a shot at experimenting though.
Tennessee Candle Supplies does have a web site, and they also have a lot of really excellent fragrance oils. I actually started out using the C-3 wax and had a lot of problems with sink holes so I switched to the Celestial Soy. You're not mixing a votive wax with a container wax, or using the Votive wax for tarts are you? The votive wax is made to be harder b/c it's not in a container, so that would definetly give you a harder tart.

Thanks for the info. It's much appreciated!! People around here-do not want to give up any information. Kinda funny. Anywho, I will see if they have a webstite and try that. We have been using Nature's Wax C-3 and V-1. They are turning out okay, but like I said earlier, I like them softer. Have you ever used coconut oil in your mel ts???

It's just the wax that I use. I purchase my soy wax from Tennessee Candle Supplies. I don't add anything to my wax other than fragrance oil and color. Their soy is Celestial Soy.
