Seperation

I have been making candles for a couple of years (on and Off). I just recentally had a problem. I am making the soy candles 402. The tops were molting but now the sides and inside of the jar candle are looking like they are molting. There is liquid inside and it looks like little balls srounded in liquid. I have tried different temp. I don't know what to do. I have an order for thirty cases and They are looking bad.

Please help

Seperation

Hi,

Thanks for your message! Do you know what the melting point of the wax is? I am wondering if it is a bit higher than it should be. As the wax cools, it shrinks... and higher melt point waxes have a tendancy to shrink a little more than lower point waxes.

Another option (which you have probably tried) is to let the wax cool to almost a slushy stage before pouring. The lower temp wax will shrink less, and hopefully not separate from the sides of your jars.

Hopefully that will help,... if not, let me know.

Thanks!

Air pockets?

Hi
I am mixing 1 oz to 1lb of soy wax. I have taken it higher temp and mix longer after adding color and scent. I bought a heat gun, There are air pockets every where. I have 45 cases to make and I am having to use the heat gun on each one after they dry. I talked to the people where I got my supplys. They took a couple of candles and used the heat gun and they look beautiful. But I hate to keep using the gun on everyone, It takes at least 5 min. to fix.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Melinda

Hi!

Thanks for your post here! It almost sounds like there may be a problem with the mixing of your fragrance oil if you are seeing liquid after your candle sets up. Can you tell me how much fragrance you are using... ie.. what ratio?

Thanks,

Will R.
