Pillars sometimes won't release

I'm using Ecosoya pillar blend wax & have trouble (every other pour, or so) with the pillars releasing. I've used mold cleaner & I'm using a silcone spray release agent before each pour. My molds are pvc. any suggestions? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Pillars sometimes won't release

hehehee... to be honest, I am probably making them the same way as everyone else. One trick I learned is to look inside the pvc pipe you are buying, and make sure it looks slick. You'll notice some of the pipe will have small imperfections (most of which run vertically along the PCV).

I agree... the metal molds do release a bit easier than the PVC.

What is the melt point of the wax you are using?

Thanks again!

Pillars sometimes won't release

thanks for the reply! I did try different temps, but couldn't get a consistant release. I finally bought some metal molds & haven't had any problems since. I think that the PVC holds heat more than the metal & was more finicky. I'll be interested in your instructions for PVC molds, you probably have a better way to make them.....Thanks again!

Molds letting go

Hi!

Thanks for posting here in our forum! I too use PVC pipe for my candle molds. One of these days I'll post some instructions on building your own molds...

Anyway... regarding your problem, have you tried the fridge/freezer trick? Also... as we know wax shrinks when it cools. Have you tried pouring your pillar at a higher temp to allow more shrinkage? That is probably where I would start. I hope that helps,... if not let me know!
