I just made some 8oz jar candles and they had a great cold scent, but when I burn them I don't smell a thing! The candle also has a big sink hole around the wick! Help!
Can anyone recommend a good wick for an 8oz square mason jar? Any recommendations for good holiday scents that hold their scent in soy wax?

I agree with your other response, the dips or holes could be due to pouring the wax too hot. I pour mine around 90 degrees and stopped having that problem when I started doing this, the candles sit much better and most the time I do not even have to use my heat gun.
The scent problem could simply be a product problem. I recommend Candlewealth International. All their scents are amazing, strong and linger a long time!

here are some wick suggestions:
Hemp 6” Large (2” and up)
HTP 62 (2.5”)
ECO 6 (2.5 – 2.75”)
German LX 12 (2 – 2.5”)
RRD 34 (2.25 – 2.5”)
now you just have to test & see which wick works good for you. the easiest way to get a good idea of how the wicks burn is to do a slab test.
as far as mixing waxes...i have added small amount of beeswax to my soy votives to make them harder and smoother on top but that eliminates the soap and water clean up. personally, i try to keep them as natural as possible. most of the soy candles i see on the market are soy/paraffin blends so i know you can mix them. soy is a tricky wax to master. i have found that soy based fragrances blend better with the wax and offer a more substantial scent throw.
part of the fun is experimenting!! good luck!

Thanks for responding! I don't have a preference regarding wicks. I just don't like the sink hole! So whichever wick cuts down on that problem, I'll try.
The diameter of the jar is 2 1/2, it's one of those square mason jars.
Do people ever mix soy and regular wax? Does that help to get a stronger scent?

you might be pouring too hot. try pouring around 100 degrees when the wax is good and slushy. as far as the wicks go...what is the diameter of your jar? do you care if your wicks are chemically treated or do you prefer them to be more natural?
