Hello all! So glad I found this forum. My daughter just went away to college and I have a lot of time on my hands to pursue my crafts and writing. I'd love to learn to make soy candles correctly :) I absolutely love candles.
I recently bought some C-1 soy flakes that came with 1 oz. of fragrance oil. I went crazy and also bought a dozen or so containers. Their 'recipe' wasn't very clear at all. I gather that I'm supposed to add 1 oz. of FO for every 16 oz of soy flakes. My question... is that before or after the flakes are melted? I'm told taht too much fragrance will keep the candle from burning properly.
Thank you to anyone who can help. I look forward to chatting and helping others with their soy candle questions, once I become familiar with it myself :)

Yes, add 1oz. fragrance oil per pound of wax as a general rule. If it is a very strong fragrance, a half oz. may work. 1 1/2 oz may also be used. Add your fragrance after the wax has cooled to 125. STIR STIR STIR redmaple

Hi
I was just reading your post and you said C-1, that is votive wax. You should be C-3 which is a container wax. Just so you know too you can use that C-1 to make tarts if you are not ready to make votives yet so you dont feel you have wax that you cant use now! But when making container candles you have to make sure you use wax that is ment for containers like the C-3 I stated above :)
