newbie - need help with wax/wick question

I am new to soy candle pouring. I love the scents and wanted to start doing it myself. I am using Cargill NatureWax C-3 and pouring into a 10oz jar with 3.25in diameter. I ordered a sample pack of eco wicks and I upped the wick a size and used Eco-14 which says it is for Large Containers 3.5-3.75. This is the biggest size this wick comes in. My candle burns hot, but after 2 hours, it still never reached the walls of the container. I don't know what other kind of wick to use and I already have a dozen of these containers. Can anyone help with this??

Wicking the 10 oz. jar

I am using the same jar and have never been successful with single wick for that jar. I think I've tried the largest of every wick possible. I finally gave in to double wicking. There are many choices depending on your preference of wicks.

I hope you are not dead set on single wicking this jar.

Wicks.

The candles I make burn all the way to the edge of the jar. I make 16 oz. apothecary jar candles and my diameter is 4" The wicks I use are HTP 1212. The HTP series are excellent for soy candles. Also, make sure your wicks are centered correctly.
I hope this helps.

newbie - need help with wax/wick question

Every candle I have ever purchased burns that way. Sometimes on the 2nd or 3rd...maybe 4th burn, the sides start to melt. I feel the same way you do, it should burn properly, but you are being too hard on yourself...check out some you've purchased, or buy some and check out the way they burn.
