> Hi, my name is Christy and I visited your website and found it most helpful! I have made my own candles before, but not with the soy. A friend of mine was telling me about the soy being much better and buring longer, etc. I am at a point now where I need to purchase the soy wax, oil scents & dye.
> Could you recommend about 10 of the better smelling scents & dyes? Also, if I didn't decide to purchase the wicks already in the metal tab holders (because they are usually precut to the sizes that I can't use), would you recommend using any other sort of wick tab besides the metal ones? Is there any other one's available to use? I have used the gray puddy looking stuff, but it tends to melt & turns to mush. I didn't know that you could use superglue, but I am excited to try it out. Are you saying that the superglue will stick the metal to the jar or mold with no problems?
> I checked out the KY site that you have on your links page & found them to be awesome as well. I am located in Oklahoma and don't know many places around here that sale candle products. I have a friend of mine who wants me to go into business with her, my end doing the candles. She makes natural soaps, lotions, body oils, etc. All are made with natural ingredients with stuff that she grows and some deal with herbs too so I am quite excited about trying to make soy candles.

> I have my own website as well, but it doesn't have anything to do with candles, although I thought about putting a little store on mine to sell candles, stones, etc. My website is a paranormal website involving investigative methods by which we look for ghosts. We investigate/research places that are supposidly haunted & have been doing it for quite some time now. Don't know if ghosts are quite your cup of tea, but if you are interested, you can check my site out as well. The addy is: www.okpri.com

Hi Christy!

Thanks for your visit and email! I am always happy to hear that someone has gotten some use out of what I have put out there on the web!

I checked out your site... very cool! Something I have been interested in for some time, but have never taken the time to pursue it. Since I am talking to a professional,... do you prefer analog or digital recorders to capture your EVPs?

As far as the fragrances go,... this is really up to you and your tastes. I sell my candles online at www.scentable.com, and my most popular fragrances are apple, merlot, cucumber melon, strawberry, vanilla (go figure), lavendar, and lemongrass. A lot depends on the season too. Spring is usually pretty big on florals, while in summer the demand goes up for the fruits. Fall and winter brings a rush of cinnamon, apple cinnimon, peppermint, and some of the "food" fragrances.
With regards to the tabs sticking to the containers, I need to update the site. Some candle suppliers sell "tab stickers" which is a double sided sticker with some thickness that works wonderfully! I have always used metal tabs in an effort to keep costs and wick prep time to a minimum.

I have been working on some pages for making soy tapers that will be loaded with pictures and very easy to follow. Hopefully I will have something together in the next month or so.

Thanks again, and happy hunting!!
