How to estimate sales at craft fair?

I am new to candle making and am loving it! My 12 & 13-year-old daughters are in charge of the business and will be using the profits to help subsidize their travels with People to People International. We're really hopeful!

My question is this: does anyone have any advice on how many candles to have on hand for a craft fair? This is our first and we will be at fairs two weekends in a row! I have no clue where to begin. Any tips would be helpful!

Craft fairs

If you only have 9 scents I would take them all. Make sure you have the "common" scents that everyone likes to buy. Scents like vanilla, lavender, etc ... its really tough to estimate how many sales you will make at a craft fair. I would take as many as you can fit in your vehicle, better safe than sorry.

I would take into account how many hours you will be at the craft fair and how many different scents you offer. I have about 65 scents or so and I only take about 30 of them depending on how much space you have. In some of the scents I only take 6 of them and others I take 12-24. Once you get into selling them you will be able to tell what your most popular ones are and you definately want to have plenty. Love Spell is one of my biggest sellers so I always have atleast 24 when I do a show/craft fair. If you are like me and have alot of scents but not enough room to display say 65 different candles just pick the ones you think would be or know are good sellers. For instance I have several Christmas scents and I don't mess with those if it's not x-mas time as those just don't sell much if it's not that time of year. It's always better to take more and not need them than to not take enough and need more. And what you don't sell that weekend you will have for the following weekend. Hope this helps. Good luck!

65 scents -wow! We have 9, but are selling them in different sizes and jar designs. I'm sure we will add more scents over time, but we're new at this!
