Hi,
Thank you very much for all your information. I have been trying for a while on my own and about to give up, then I found this site. THANK YOU THANK YOU. I am making beautiful container and votive candles now, with your help.
Now I would like to make Flower Pot votives. I have tried making them like I do the votives but they have uneven color and a crack between wick and side of container.
I am using Cargill Nature Wax V-1. Heated wax to 200, at 190 put in the color and fraagrance and poured about 180 (stirred over two minutes).
If you have any ideas, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks again for everyones information.
Betty

Flower Pot votives
I do sell mine... I don't sell a whole lot of them though. They are mostly just little add on's for Gift Baskets, and then at Christmas I had several of them layered with Mint Candy Cane and Jack Frost (called it Frosted Candy Cane) and I shrink wrapped them, and sold them at Craft Fairs. I sell them for $2.50 each, which is probably pretty cheap, but I only sell my 8 ounce jellies for $5.
It is a lot to learning how to make candles, and every day I feel like I've learned or "discovered" something new! It's a lot of trial and error and it can get really tedious, until you discover that "perfect" combo that works for you!!!
Good Luck!!

Flower pot votives
Hi,
I was trying to get my cost low for selling them. I thought I wouldn't have to add the container to the price. Do you sell yours? How much do you charge for them if you do?
I tried not to long ago with the V-1 votive wax and it worked pretty well. Then I ran out of wax and haven't got any more lately. I heated the wax to over 180, poured them about 170 and then before it settled all the way I Microwaved a little more and poured over the top. They turned out pretty nice. Didn't have no cracks, but like I said I did it only once and you know how it goes, the next time it can be a completely different story.
Learning to make these candles is proving to be difficult. I never would of thought it was so hard to do. But I am enjoying it.
Thanks again and God Bless.

I do use regular container soy, and I leave it in the glass Flower Pot and sell it together. I purchase my Flower Pot's at Wal-Mart for like 57 cents or so. I would think that if you wanted it to come OUT of the Flower Pot then you would need to use a Pillar type wax that is designed to pull away from the sides of the container and release. It's too much of a pain for me to have more than 1 wax, so I don't do any type of pillars, and just stick with regular containers. Maybe one of these days! :)

Thank you Kristin for your reply.
Do you use regular container soy for the votives? Does it come out of the moldr?
I have been using the V-1. The supplier suggested I add 15 % of container soy to the V-1. I did but I still get the crack
I'll try pouring at a cooler temperature like you suggest.
Thank You again, hope it works.

Flower Pot votives
Hi Betty!
Well, I may not be much help, but when I make Flower Pot Votive's I use 100% soy.. that's what I use in my container candles too. I also wait until my wax is filmy on top, stir super well, and then pour. I get smooth tops and the best results by waiting until filmy.
