I just started making 100%soy candles. My glass is brand new. I heat the wax to 165-170, add color, stir thoroughly, wait for some cool down, add the fragrance (1 oz weighed per lb of wax), stir, wait again for it to become slushy, and pour. On initial appearance, the candles are absolutely beautiful, no frosting, no sinkholes, but the next morning, I am finding some slight discoloration of the wax on the sides and sometimes the bottom of the container. The rest of the candle continues to look stunning, and perfect along the top, just the slight discoloration on the sides. Any ideas what could be causing this? Would it be considered normal for a hand poured candle?
discoloration in container after cooling??? any suggestions?
I would clean the melting pot and containers you are using with wax mold cleaner. Available here: http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/products/candlemakingaccessories_mol...
You might have a little residual chemical or wax additives if they were used to hold/melt other waxes.
You also might want to try a different soy wax supplier. Pure soy wax should not blemish like that.
Good luck!
