My candles are not melting completely to the edge of the glass container. They seem to burn straight down, leaving a large hollow tunnel. Any suggestions? Should I change wicks? :?: I have been using the HTP wicks.
It's important to have the correct wick for the size candle you're making. I use 16 oz. apothecary jars. The diameter of the jar is 4" so I use a HTP 1212 wick. It works great as long as the wick is exactly centered. The HTP series works great for soy candles. I've tried other wicks and like the HTP the best. If you are using the right size wick and you are still having problems, I have another suggestion. Did you know that soy wax has a memory? It will remember how far from the center your wax melted the first time you light it. So if you extinguish the flame before the wax melts to the sides the first time, you will get a tunneling effect. I have tips and troubleshooting on my website. www.lynnscountrycandles.com Feel free to email me if you have any other questions or still need help.
