bubbles & air pockets - help

I am a beginner who is not geting better. I saw an idea in a magazine to put candles in pretty glass containers, crystal, etc. from thrift stores. etc. the pic was glorious of course.

I got a wax, etc. from Hobby Lobby & Michael's (I go to one with a coupon) Followed directions totally. Last part of the directions is after 30 min of cooling to poke small holes around the wick 'to let air out' so I poked a hole (florist wire)where I could see a void or obvious air pocket and tried filling with more wax as dir. said. They look awful !! melted a couple down, but still having the air pocket problem. Poking holes only at the wick area does not get the air on the edge of the glass out. Hope this is clear. They are as beautiful as the mag., if you don't look at the grayish air pockets. Was going to sell & use for gifts. A good bit of $ invested. Any advice. Threw away packaging and wrote dir. out for myself -- it helps to do that at the first of any new thing. sorry so long, but I need help. Where does the sir come from anyway ? Tried pouring slow, quick, straight down, in a circle around wick to no avail , thanks ahead of time. Forums are always so helpful Belle

bubbles & air pockets - help

I have been getting air bubbles in the top of my soy candles as well. I read on the internet to use a hair dryer on the top and tap the sides of the jars and it works great for a smooth finish. :D

First of all, buying your wax from a hobby store really isn't a good idea. You pay too much, and it usually isn't good wax. If you go to my website, I have instructions on how to make soy candles for beginners. I also include a soy candle troubleshooting page if you are still having problems.
You should never have to poke holes in soy candles. I use Cargill C-3 wax . As most soy waxes are, it is one pour. There is very little shrinkage compared to paraffin wax. The big trick to not getting air bubbles is to pour very slow. You can also stir the wax gently after you pour.
