I was just wondering if there is a specific way that you way to prep a container (other than our normal glasses). For example, I read somewhere that if you choose to use a terricata (sp?) type of container you have to seal the inside in order to prevent the terricata from absorbing the wax and creating a fire hazard. If this the same case for ceramic containers that are unfinished on the inside?

I can now place mine decently.

REALLY a "newbie" here!
Hi, I am on day number two of working with my soy wax. I did everything I thought I had to do yesterday to the point of making myself nuts by the end of the day!! Does anyone know how relieved I was just to find out I could actually melt my wax in the microwave???!!! I am truly excited to find a group such as this, one where I know I will find a wealth of knowledge, so very refreshing! I am now on day number 2, have let up on myself, put the "generalized book" about candlemaking away, actually had FUN with making five little container candles for Mother's Day...oh ...and one for myself also! I even made a couple of tarts and they turned out okay so far. Of course now I am running around, checking everywhere in my house for new containers. Was glad to see there was a way to use my flower pots...thank you!
One thing I did read in my generalized book was that people sometimes soak their wick in their essential oils, really helps with "the throw" of the scent. Does anyone here do that? Thanks in advance, Gail V in CA
Alternative containers
sounds really neat
Alternate Containers
When filling terracotta containers it is best to use a sealer (found in most hobby stores) both inside and outside. For those containers with a glaze finish it is porbably not necessary but won't hurt anything either! I've filled tin cans and the most popular recently is teacups! Great for Mother's Day!
